Whenever someone asks for a suggestion for a casual lunch in downtown Chicago, I've traditionally been at a total loss. Late-night cocktails? Easily done. Fantastic dinner? Of course! But a great non-chain snack, particularly in the loop, always had me stumped. That changed last spring when I stumbled upon Toni, a patisserie and café on Washington, just off of Michigan Avenue. Beautiful pastries, marvelous sandwiches, peppermint hot cocoa! It's a wonderfully cozy spot, tucked away in a bustling area.
